COOKIE POLICY

The State Agency Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC) reports on the use of cookies on its websites.

Cookies are files that can be downloaded to your computer through websites. These are tools which play an essential role in the provision of many information society services. Among others, they allow a website to store and retrieve information about the browsing habits of a user or his equipment and, depending on the information obtained, can be used to recognize the user and improve the service offered.

Types of cookies

Depending on the entity that manages the domain from which cookies are sent and processes the data obtained, two types can be distinguished: own cookies and third-party cookies.

There is also a second classification according to the length of time they remain stored in the client’s browser, being session cookies or persistent cookies.

Finally, there is another classification with five types of cookies according to the purpose for which the data obtained are processed: technical cookies, personalisation cookies, analysis cookies, advertising cookies and behavioural advertising cookies.

For more information in this regard you can consult the Guide on the use of cookies from the Spanish Data Protection Agency.

For the promotion of social networks, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and Instagram cookies are used so that our visitors can follow us on these networks, in addition to inserting content from Twitter and YouTube in the web portal.

We use WordPress for website development and Divi (Elegant Themes) for design, so their cookies are also used. Similarly, we use HAProxy for website performance optimization and session cookies such as SERVIRED for load balancing functionality as well as cdp-cookies-plugin-wp. In addition, a technical cookie called wordpress_test_cookie is downloaded that manages the user’s consent to the use of cookies on the website, in order to remember those users who have accepted them and those who have not, so that the former are not shown information about it on the page.
