Prof. José Luis García, researcher at the Margarita Salas Biological Research Center (CSIC) and member of Susplast, has been awarded the Margarita Salas Research Award 2024 by the Community of Madrid. This award recognizes his research career and his knowledge transfer efforts, highlighting Prof. García’s contributions to positioning Spanish Biotechnology as an international reference.
The award was presented by Emilio Viciana Duro, the Regional Minister for Education, Science, and Universities of the CAM, during a ceremony held on January 21, 2025, at the regional government headquarters located in Puerta del Solin Madrid.
José Luis García has been honored with the first category of the award, the Margarita Salas Award, in recognition of his contribution to the development of biotechnological applications in areas such as genetic engineering, metabolic engineering, as well as synthetic and systems biology, to address environmental challenges.
